MAKURDI – Few days to the general elections, Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has warned politicians behind the spate of political violence in the state to retrace their steps or face the wrath of the law.
Suswam said he has directed security agencies in the state to arrest anyone caught in the act irrespective of the political party he belongs to.
Suswam sounded the warning in Makurdi while addressing Minda people at a grand rally organised by the group for the governor and all PDP candidates in the general elections.
He pointed out that the state government was aware of plans by disgruntled politicians to cause disaffection in the state during and after the April polls.
He stressed that the government would not fold its arms and watch the people concerned make the state ungovernable because of their inordinate ambition.
Suswam appealed to Minda people to remain in the mainstream by casting their votes for the ruling PDP, just as he expressed delight for the support he has so far enjoyed from the people.
According to Suswam, “Election should not be a do or die affair, because if in the process of seeking election we end up destroying the society and our people, of what use will our aspiration be to the generality of our people”.
