Senate: Nsukka monarchs endorse Eze’s re-election bid

By Tony Edike
ENUGU – TRADITIONAL rulers in Enugu North Senatorial zone of Enugu State have declared their support for the re-election bid of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Senator Ayogu Eze with a  promise to mobilise their subjects to vote for him in April 2, National Assembly election.

The royal fathers hinged their endorsement of Eze’s re-election bid on his commitment to the actualization of the Adada State, which the people of Enugu North had committed resources to make a reality.

They declared while receiving Eze and members of his campaign team in various local government areas within the zone that since the immediate political project for the people of the zone was the actualization of Adada state, the senator who had been at the forefront of the struggle at the National Assembly should be allowed to complete the process.

At the palace of Igwe Raphael Eze of Obukpa in Nsukka local government area, the Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council Enugu North Senatorial Zone and the Traditional Ruler of Eha-Alumona, Igwe Charles Abangwu said “it is now five years of our recently renewed struggle for the creation of Adada State since the present democracy, if you remove the one who is already used to the committee for the state creation and bring a new person, it will take the hands of our clock back.

Other contestants are our friends just like Ayogu but we shall support Ayogu because he is already in the process so that we don’t have delay.”

Also speaking at his palace in Itchi-Agu in Igboeze South local government area,Igwe kechukwu Oke said that the monarchs in the council were satisfied with all the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP administration from national to local government councils and assured Senator Eze of their support.

“No Igwe is hungry any more courtesy of Governor Sullivan Chime. PDP will rule Enugu state; PDP will produce another senator for the zone and we are all in support of Ayogu Eze to go back to Abuja to bring us Adada State,”  Igwe Oke said.

At the palace of the traditional ruler of Amalla, Igwe Patrick Eze, the Udenu monarchs through Igwe Eze  told Senator Eze that his coming was a mere fulfillment “because we have already agreed that the PDP team should be re-elected because the interest of the entire Nsukka people is greater than anybody’s personal interest.

Experience matters in everything. Udenu people will give 100% votes to PDP, Ayogu Eze is a Man of the people who takes community interest as a priority than selfish interest.”

On their part, the traditional rulers in Igbo-Eze North and Igbo-Etiti local government areas who gathered at the palaces of Igwe Hyacinth Odo of Uda, Enugu-Ezike and Igwe Christian Eze of Idoha, Ukehe, respectively to receive the senator, assured that they would deploy their support behind him in this weekend’s election and prayed for his success in the election.

Senator Eze told the monarchs that he decided to reach out to them in continuation of his House-to-House campaign, reminding them that the Nsukka people had a list of worry which they prioritized to include roads, airport, damming of Adada River among others.
