ABEOKUTA - EMBATTLED members of the Peoples Party of Nigeria [PPN] in Ogun State Monday took to the streets of Abeokuta, the state capital expressing fears over the fate of the party to contest the forthcoming elections, in view of a case filed by Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} faulting the inclusion of the candidates of the Peoples Party of Nigeria {PPN}
The protesters led by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Raheem Ajayi, with placards of various inscriptions such as “Judiciary is Anti-Democracy”, “Kasina-Alu Save Our Democracy” among others consisting mainly youths rounded up the protest at the Federal High Court, where they submitted a petition at the Registry
Speaking with newsmen, Alhaji Raheem Ajayi alleged that judiciary was being used by Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} in the state led by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and Prince Buruji Kashamu to prevent Peoples Party of Nigeria [PPN] from contesting the election.
“Having sent our candidates away from the party through a judicial abracadabra injunction, Obasanjo and Kashamu are now using all means again to employ the service of Kafarati who gave the earlier injunction to them, to again scuttle our chances at the poll’.
‘We are telling the whole world that Kafarati is giving the judiciary a bad name, we don’t have confidence in him, and he should not be allowed to hear the suit. The case can be heard at the state level, we don’t have problem with the case, but we don’t want Kafarati’ Ajayi posited
The Peoples Party of Nigeria{PPN} image-maker lamented that the recent development regarding the political crisis necessitating court action has shown indication that judiciary is no more interested in the affairs and rights of the common man.
