Lagos – TWO days to the 2011 general elections, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised alarm over alleged plans by the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state to rig the elections.

Adderssing newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, PDP state chairman, Mr. Setonji Koshedo, alleged that the ACN had planned to disrupt the election through “violence and intimidation” of voters with dangerous weapon.

Aside perfecting plans to allegedly offer monetary inducement to the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to do its bidding, Koshedo alleged that “they (ACN) had also decided to import ‘ecomog’ voters from across the borders” to participate in the election.”

According to him, the leadership of the party had reported the matter to relevant authorities, noting that his party had decided to toe the path of the rule of  law in the exercise.

While canvassing for votes, he called on the people of Lagos state to vote enmass for PDP candidates in the state in the general which begins this weekend adding that when voted into office, the PDP “will run a responsible government that will meet the hopes and aspiration of the people of the state.”

His words: “PDP is set to offer good government that will prudently manage our resources for the benefit of Lagosian and Lagos State. Our party has put in place a well articulated programme of action that will restore the lost glory and status of our dear state as a former federal capital.”

In addition, he accused the ACN government in the state is driven by a selfish and primordial concentration, and therefore deserved to be voted out of power .
