KANO - President Goodluck Jonathan has approved over N12 billion contract for the construction of new international terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA.
Briefing Reporters in Kano at the end of one day working visit to Kano, Aviation Minister, Fidelia Njeze, stated that the current terminal was dilapidated and obsolete, explaining that the contract awarded to a local firm had a two year duration.
Fidelia Njeze explained that fund had been made available for the speedy completion of the project, stressing that on completion, more international flight would be rerouted to MAKIA.
The Minister of Aviation revealed that the Federal Government was committed to total rehabilitations of all the existing airports across the country before leasing them out, noting that the whole idea was to raise the stake in the event Government yielded to concession option.
