AHEAD of the presidential election on April 9, a coalition of non-governmental organisations under the aegis of Vote Right Initiative, VRI, has resolved to mobilise four million voters to actualise the candidacy of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Lagos on the decision of the coalition which comprises 25 youths groups, National Co-ordinator of  the group, Mr. Babalola Medayedupin, said “giving the background we have today in Nigeria, we are resolved to mobilise for the success of President Goodluck Jonathan at the polls come April 19, 2011.

We are convinced that President Jonathan is not only the best option for Nigeria at this crucial moment in history but also the best candidate that is most suited to ensure stability of our polity.

“It is important to, however, emphasise that our endorsement of President Jonathan has nothing to do with the PDP; it is clearly a consideration borne out of the desire to elect a leader that would not be pre-occupied with the urge for  vindictiveness of any sort or be distracted by the desire to settle any score with anybody, group or section of the country.

“The leader that our country needs at this time and moment in history is the one that is entirely free from the encumbrances of political atavism that is rotted in the past.
