Live beats, Nigeria’s longest running music programme on TV is 15.And to celebrate the milestone achievement, 2Face Idibia’s led Hypetek Entertainment and his management company, Now Musik are taking are bringing together a one of its kind dinner that will have in attendance celebrities across all walks of life.
It is to celebrate Cally Ikpe, the CEO of Callivision Network LTD and the initiator of Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) as well as the executive producer Live beats who has been at the forefront of music video revolution in Nigeria.
There is no doubt that, Live beats has contributed immensely to development of our home grown music especially the music video industry in Nigeria since 1995.
It provides a platform for budding artistes as well as established acts and disc jockeys (DJs) to express themselves. Almost every celebrity artiste in Nigeria had graced the show.
Livebeats also inspired the staging of Nigeria’s first ever music video awards, the NMVA, in 2007 which is another realm in the promotion of Nigerian made music videos.
During the 10th year anniversary of the programme in 2006, Cally said there has been a considerable improvement in picture quality as regards music video production in Nigeria
“We started from almost a zero situation. By that I mean an era when we tried to juxtapose music videos as produced by Nigerians and those of their international counterparts.
Then it was a pity doing so unlike a situation now, where the videos are played side by side and sometimes we even outdo them in terms of concept and even equipment. Now you watch the international channels and see the chart system.
