Traitor Unmasked is a timely, bold and well-delivered response to Micro-Seconds Away from Death by Wale Adedayo; erstwhile Chief Press Secretary to Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD). Traitor Unmasked paints a vivid picture of political treachery and hypocrisy by otherwise trusted political aides with opportunistic tendencies. Written by a serving member of Ogun State Executive Council and a self-professed disciple of OGD, the book offers refreshing dimension and penetrating insights into the grand conspiracy that has sustained the accusation of political highhandedness and diabolical preoccupations against OGD’s led Administration in Ogun State. Following the rather monotonous campaign of hate heightened by Wale Adedayo’s yet to be investigated allegation of assassination which culminated in Micro-Seconds Away from Death; this book is a major effort that provides alternative views for critical re-assessment of political situation in Ogun State.

The begining

Traitor Unmasked began with a prologue; Democrat on Trial and a subtitle; Wild Hallucination comes with a false Bang which combined to set the tone for the no-holds-bar engagement that ran through the over 200 pages of the book. In the prologue, the author made no pretence about his mission by asserting not to be a silent collaborator in the guise of maintaining neutrality. This determination obviously accounts for his boldness I am taking on a number of issues and actors that have defined the tempo of political situation in Ogun State in recent time.

Apart from the unmistakably bold and poignant title of the book, its seven chapters also bear unique captions which are, no doubt, difficult to ignore for readers. By the strength of the caption and the accompanied philosophical quotations that began each of the chapters, the author leaves no one in doubt as to the seriousness of the issues involved as well as his determination to frontally engage them. In chapter one , readers are reminded of the wise saying that half truth is the most cowardly of lies. Chapter one provides historical and intellectual basses for approximating antics of betrayers as well as the unifying dynamics in the acts of betrayals. We are again reminded of the legendary roles which traitors have played in defining the history of generations as exemplified by the ignoble deeds of characters like the biblical Judas Iscariot and Shakespearean Brutus in Julius Caesar and others.

In Chapter two, the author continued with illuminating expose on the lies and fabrications contained in Micro-Seconds Away from Death as well as the antics of the man behind the controversy; Mr Wale Adedayo. Contrary to the negative media hype against OGD’s led administration; the author insists that dominant political opposition was out to destabilize governance for selfish interest. He insists that the opposition is in the firm grip of a key recruiter and financier who continue to enjoy patronage despite his questionable character.

In chapter three, the author thoroughly dissects Wale Adedayo’s claims and insinuations that sought to give credibility to the widely publicized assassination attempt of January 10, 2009. The author raises serious posers that should be of interest to anybody that care about truth regarding political situation in Ogun State and the need to properly situate Wale Adedayo’s assassination claim.

In chapter four the author makes allusion to the grand conspiracy behind the wild allegation against OGD and his government in Ogun State. According to the author, allegation of assassination by Wale Adedayo only provided the opposition with a further weapon with which to carry out the well orchestrated attacks against a common political foe with the view to wrestle power in 2011.

The last chapters of the book seem to have summarized the real objective of the whole book, perhaps to given a punch to the preceding four chapters.

In Chapter Five, the author paints a picture of the objectives of the opposition in general and a base is focus on the Guardian article of 3rd of Dec. 2008. Tittles ‘Is Gbenga Daniel a Sissy’.

Support for youths

The Chapter also catalogue the adventures of Tunde Oladunjoye and his Omo-Ilu Group as part of those anti-OGD and further linked their persistent attack in the crisis of Ogun State House of Assembly.

Chapter six focuses on the other concern of the book, which is the way and manner by which OGD has supported Nigerian Youth and Leadership Succession agenda and the extent to which some of the so called Youth have betrayed their masters.

Chapters Seven is the concluding chapter and it is opened with the words of Dele Giwa and quote “No evil deed can go unpunished. And any evil deed done by man to man will be redressed if not now then certainly later, if not by man then certainly by God, for the victory of evil over good can only be temporary.

The author concluded that the book is not written to defend OGD as OGD can defend himself anywhere, anytime; that the book is about exposing the lies of the traitors that has passed through OGD administration.
