Promasidor begins NASSMAC registration

To further arouse the consciousness and interest in mathematics among secondary school students in Nigeria, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Cowbell milk owner, said registration is on for the 2011 edition of the yearly Cowbell National Secondary Schools Mathematics Competition (NASSMAC).

Mr. Kachi Onubogu, General Manager, Marketing, of the company, while addressing newsmen at the press conference commemorating the 11th session of the competition, said, this year, the company increased the competition’s prizes to make it more competitive.

Whilst he pointed out that Promasidor also increased the number of students in the categories that would represent each school, in order to encourage more students to participate and increase their interest in mathematics.

The competition which is divided into the six geo-political zones will this year reward mathematics teachers as well, where the winner’s mathematics teacher will go on vacation on an all expense paid trip.

These new additions, the company said was to enable the winner see beyond the environment he or she resides, even as the winner will be made to visit it’s State of origin, an attempt the General Manager said will help encourage others to want to take part in the competition.

In the same vein, the company said the schools producing the national winners will receive five desktop computers and printers, amongst other prizes.

In the Junior category of the competition the company said the first prize winner will go receive N250,000 and a medal, N200,000 and N150,000 respectively.

For the Senior category, Promasidor said the first prize will be N300,000 and a medal, N250,000 and N200,000 accordingly.
