PORT HARCOURT— A member of an armed robbery group terrorising Port Harcourt has been gunned down by men of the Rivers State Police command, recovering two AK 47 rifles, two magazines and four live ammunitions from the group at the end of the operation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dr Rita Inoma-Abbey, who spoke to Vanguard on the development, said the robbers who drove in a saloon car with plate number AH 908 BGM, opened fire on a police patrol team around Egbelu, Ozuoba area in the state, injuring one Sergeant Onuora Chukwuma on his thigh.
She said the policemen retaliated with a counter fire, a situation that led to the death of one of the robbers.
Continuing, she said other members of the gang later abandoned the vehicle and fled into a swampy area around Elaprawon.
