A CHIEFTAIN of the Great Ogboru Campaign Organisation, Sir Richard Odibo, has raised alarm over alleged mobilization of some Nigerians and non-Nigerians to register in the on-going voters’ registration exercise and in turn exchange the cards for money in Delta State.
In a statement, yesterday. Odibo said, “some immigrants from Niger Republic and some under-aged persons were also recruited into this illegal act and transported into the riverine communities, paid between N3, 000 and N5,000 for their efforts.” According him, “up to 30-50 buses are mobilized on daily basis from around the state to Koko in Warri North and other towns in Warri South West Local Government Area for the registration.
“Minors were also registered and passport photographs are sourced from commercial photographers and later super-imposed on their finger prints,” he said.
He queried the rationale behind moving people to register outside their residential areas, alleging that, some persons lost their lives around Ovwian River when coming back from registration centers.
