The Islamic Republic of Iran has revealed plans to construct 30, 000 housing units in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of the country to reduce the problem of accommodation in the country.
Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Hussein M. Abdullahi, who disclosed this during the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic revolution of the country, in Abuja, said that the move is part of the country’s contribution to the development of Nigeria, with which his country have enjoyed cordial relations.
Abdullahi noted the two countries have signed series of memorandum of understanding (MoU) in different aspects of endeavours, adding that the construction of the housing units is to showcase Iran’s potentiality in that industry.
“You may not know but technology of housing in Iran is very high and now we have offered to construct houses in Abuja and some other states of the federation which I believe the agreement will soon be formalized to start the project in order to boost the housing condition in various selected locations,” he said.
He remarked that there are other areas in which both countries can benefit from each other in terms of potentialities that exist in each of the two countries, noting that there are a lot of requirements in Nigeria based on the economic development process that is now taking place in the country.“Iran has potentialities in key manpower areas, different areas of technology industries, in agriculture, haulage knowledge for many industries especially in areas of power generation and we will like to share them with Nigeria,” he said.
