Governor Aregbesola of Osun State, has said he met an empty treasury on assumption of office with huge debts and Olympian responsibilities just as he relived memories of the intimidation and harassment by the last administration in the state.
Aregbesola commended the people of Ijesa in Osun State for their steadfastness, doggedness, explained that with all the intimidation he remained fearless.
The governor spoke at a reception organised in his honour by the Council of Ijesa Societies in Lagos, weekend.
Recalling instances of intimidations before, during and after the 2007 general election in Osun State, the governor said, “Our people in Osun State, Ijesa in particular, were visited with the most reprehensible retribution for standing for truth and justice.
“Many were killed, maimed, hounded and their person violated during the siege.”
