Former Director of the Dr Goodluck Jonathan for Governor, “Green Movement Campaign Organisation,” Chief Fyneman Wilson and one time member of the National Assembly, Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff have joined the growing list of former PDP chieftains in Bayelsa State that have defected to the Labour Party in the state.

Chief Wilson, the arrow head of the Green Movement that ensured the emergence of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the Bayelsa State PDP governorship candidate in 2007 before his elevation as Vice Presidential candidate of the party, has been appointed as the Chairman, state caucus of the Timi Alaibe for Governor Campaign organisation.

Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in old Rivers State and later Commissioner for Education in Bayelsa State and Mr Talford Ongolo erstwhile Speaker of the state house of assembly and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Bayelsa State are to serve as Director and Deputy Director of the Alaibe campaign outfit.

Others are Chief Bernard Agai, Director of Mobilisation, a former Bayelsa Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Douye Diri (Director of Publicity),Chief Stan Abali (Director for Fund Raising),Chief Okuro James (Director of Transportation), Mr  Pugoyo Bemoyo (Director of Planning, Research and Statistics) and Barrister Famous Panowei (Director of Legal Matters).

Lamenting what they described as maladministration on the part of the present leadership in the state, Senator Rufus-Spiff likened Bayelsa to a ship without a captain, arguing that the people of the state have no reason to live below the poverty level, in spite of its abundani resources.

His words: “The people are desirous of change. We don’t deserve what we are seeing. The state has been reduced to a mere local government which ought not to be so.

“The soul of Bayelsa State is sick. The people are helpless as they are repeatedly crying for a change but I can tell you with Timi Alaibe joining the governorship race, the era of poverty and under development is over.”
