DELTA State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, yesterday, reaffirmed the candidacy of Dr Chris Ekiyor as the party’s flag bearer in the April House of Representatives election for the Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency.
The state chapter of the party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Frank Eghomien said anyone else parading himself as the party’s candidate will be undoing himself.
“The state chapter of the ACN, has been reading all forms of publication in the various print media about factions existing in Bomadi Local Government Area chapter of the ACN and certain claims by unknown persons, that they are flagbearers in Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we which to state categorically that Dr Ekiyor is the party’s candidate for the Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency for 2011 general elections in April,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Bomadi council chapter of the party has suspended its Chairman, Mr Amabiri Azabor.
The party in a statement, weekend, said Azabor’s suspension was “on the basis of anti-party behaviour, lack of transparency, lack of accountability, immaturity and immoral conduct.”
The party in a statement by the chapter’s Secretary, Mr Christopher Anthony and Publicity Secretary, Dr Justin Puwei, said Azabor had breached section (9) 9:1 of the party’s constitution.
According to the statement, a five-man committee has been set up to look into the allegations brought against him as stated in a communique issued at the end of the executive meeting of the party.
