Bauchi Deputy Gov wins Senatorial primary

Alhaji Babayo Gamawa, Deputy Governor of Bauchi State has been elected the PDP candidate for Bauchi North Senatorial District.

Announcing the results of the primary elections in Azare, the Returning Officer, Alhaji Sambo Raja, said Gamawa polled 1,862 votes to defeat his  opponent, Alhaji Aminu Ahmed-Yapeco with 37 votes.

“I declare Alhaji Babayo Garba Gamawa who scored 1,862 votes the winner of the election,” he said.

Raja commended the people of the area for conducting themselves peacefully during the elections.

Reacting to his victory, Gamawa thanked the voters for conducting themselves peacefully during the election.

He also called on the people to come out and register during the voter registration on January 15.

The three other aspirants,  former members of the House of the Representatives, Alhaji Hamisu Shira, Alhaji Modibbo Ahmed and Alhaji Faruk Mustapha boycotted the election.

They had served as members representing Shira/Giade, Itas/Gadau/Jama’are and Azare Constituencies in the House of Representatives.
