Plateau United players and officials are fighting off depression and praying for the speedy recovery of star midfielder Olayinka Olaniyi.
Olaniyi suffered horrific injury to the face and fractured his sheen bone after he was caught in the bomb blasts that rocked Jos City on Christmas eve.
“No one is happy here. It is quite sad because it happened without any warning. He just went out to pick up some personal effects. As soon as he came out of his car, disaster struck…we are thankful to God that he is still alive,” said coach Ndubuisi Nduka.
He said that the player is responding to treatment and was sure he would return to full fitness to continue with his football career.
“Our hearts are with him and we wish him the quickest of recoveries. We at the club are also a hundred percent behind Olaniyi.”
