OGUN State government has faulted insinuations that unspecified number of new born babies were stolen at one of the government hospitals, Oba Ademola Hospital, Ijemo, Abeokuta.
Reacting to the rumour in a statement issued by the spokesman, Ministry of Health, Mr. Ayokunle Ewuoso, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, refuted the rumour in it’s entirety describing “it as very unfortunate.”
He said: “There was no point in time that such a nasty occurrence happened in any of the government hospitals. It is very sad and unfortunate that rumour mongers could come up with such bad statements.”
He called on the entire populace, particularly pregnant women, to disregard the rumour, adding that government had put in place adequate security measures in all the state-owned hospitals to forestall any unfortunate incidence.
Dr. Salako admonished citizens to be wary of rumour mongers in the state noting that such insinuations were expected to be on the increase during this period as general elections draw nearer.
