Akure—GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, has lauded the leadership skill displayed by President Goodluck Jonathan in resolving the recent crisis that rocked the governing council of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Dr. Mimiko gave the commendation at Ugbo in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state during the flag-off ceremony of the N19.5 billion Ugbo/Oghoye road project.
He said the decision by President Jonathan to involve the Niger Delta governors in resolving the matter “is commendable and a conviction that the president is a leader that obeys the Rule of Law and wishes the Nation well.”
The governor said the advice by some unscrupulous elements that the president should dissolve the board of the commission was against the wishes of the Niger Delta governors and that such advice would have aggravated the crisis in the region.
Dr. Mimiko noted that all the Niger Delta governors were happy with the president for the support he had been giving the NDDC since he took over the leadership of the nation and that they had resolved to always co-operate with him in his desire to transform the region and the nation at large.
He pledged that the Ondo State government would give the NDDC the necessary supports that would facilitate the speedy completion of the project.
The governor asked President Jonathan to jettison any advice that may not be in the interest of the people of the Niger Delta region and to always carry the governors along.
