President GoodlucK Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi as the substantive Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.
Mr. Akpobolokemi takes over from the Agency’s Executive Director Administration and Finance, Mr. Adeniran Aderogba, who was last week appointed in acting capacity.
Until his appointment, the new NIMASA director general was a lecturer at the Niger Delta University on Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.
In a press statement signed by Mallam Ibrahim Jibril, new head of NIMASA’s Public Relations Department, noted that Akpobolokemi was saddled with the responsibility of leading NIMASA, an agency with the mandate to superintend the holistic but systemic implementation of the National Shipping Policy, the Nigerian Maritime Labour Policy; the Cabotage law and the Nigerian Merchant Shipping Laws.
