Scores of sympathisers and thousands of fuji music lovers yesterday thronged the residence of the late fuji maestro, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister as news filtered in that he would be buried in his Isolo residence yesterday.
The remains, however, did not arrive from London as scheduled.
Alhaji Agba or Mr. Fuji, as he was fondly called, died after a protracted illness penultimate Thursday at St Mary’s Hospital, London, United Kingdom, after developing complications as a result of surgery he underwent recently to extract excess fat from his body.
Speaking on the delay, Media and Publicity Manager for the burial, Mr. Day Adam, confirmed to Vanguard that the burial would take place today as the body had left Paris, France, at about 6 p.m. Nigerian time for Lagos.
Our correspondent who was at his Isolo, Lagos residence reports that the police and other security agencies had mounted tight security at both ends of the Lamina Lawal, Street, Isolo, Lagos, about 500 metres from his house.
Top fuji musicians present at the time of visit were King Wasiu Ayinde a.k.a. K1 De Ultimate; Alhaji Kollington Ayinla; Alhaji Akande Abass Obesere; Alhaji Alabi Pasuma; Chief Said Osupa, Alhaji Sulaiman Adio, a.k.a Atewewe; Dele Abiodun among others.
The top fuji musicians held a meeting at the Fuji Chambers of the late musician and told scores of sympathisers waiting for the arrival of the remains of Alhaji Agba that the corpse would not arrive as earlier scheduled.
Obesere, who spoke on behalf of the musicians said: “We are still expecting the body. They had to fly to Dubai and from there to France before they will land in Lagos.”
The body will be committed to mother earth right inside his popular Fuji Chambers.
