Aregbesola to consult monarchs on governance

Osogbo—Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has declared his readiness to accord due recognition to  traditional rulers in the implementation of his administration’s programmes and policies.

Receiving a delegation of traditional rulers including the Olufi of Gbongan, Oba (Dr.) Adetoyese Oyeniyi Odugbemi, Olowu of Owu, Oba Moses Adejobi Afelele, Aree of Iree, Oba Jimoh Layoonu Larooye and the Oloogi of Oogi, Oba James Adeleke, who paid him a congratulatory visit at his Ilesa home on Sunday morning, Governor Aregbesola declared his readiness to welcome advise from traditional rulers on how to achieve the development of Osun State.

Expressing appreciation for the monarchs for their visit, the Governor promised that he would do everything legitimate to accord traditional rulers due recognition since he knew their importance in the scheme of things.

Aregbesola explained to the monarchs that he came purposely to revamp the economy and wage war on poverty, unemployment and hunger which he noted, had become the enemies of development.

He explained that he did not seek the office of Governor to enrich himself and explained that he came to rebuild Osun State and launch the people into an era of prosperity.

He promised to run a people_centred government and use agriculture to eradicate poverty and misery from the state just as he called on traditional rulers to support his administration at all times.

The Olufi of Gbongan, Oba (Dr.) Adetoyese Oyeniyi who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers assured Governor Aregbesola that he was ready to make available his expertise in Agriculture available for the development of Osun State.

Oba Oyeniyi who promised that traditional rulers were ready to support Governor Aregbesola, stressed that agriculture could be turned to a singular tool of springing the development of Osun State to stand tall among its brother states.

He advised the governor to seek advice from traditional rulers in the evolution and execution of the policies and programmes of his administration.
