The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has condemned the Yenagoa twin blasts which it described as failure on the part of the Peoples Democratic Party-led government.

Also, the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Thursday, expressed concern over the recent blasts recorded in parts of the country in which several lives were lost.

Both groups described the escalating tension in the polity as sad testimonial of the failing nature of leadership of the country.

Lamenting the sad turn of events, the ACN and the foremost Ijaw youth body urged the security agencies to live up to their responsibility so as to save the country from drifting into a pariah state.

Though two persons were confirmed to have sustained serious injuries in the Yenagoa’s twin blasts which disrupted the campaign rally of a PDP governorship aspirant, Beimo Rufus-Spiff, several persons had been confirmed killed in the orgy of violence rocking Jos.

National Youth leader of the ACN, Comrade Ebikibina Miriki,in an interview said the recent blast in Yenagoa called to question the capability of the PDP to lead Bayelsa State which is yearning for development.

“With all the security apparatus and personnel in Bayelsa State, it sadden to note that the security of the down trodden masses was not guaranteed, if such dastardly act could be carried out in a broad day light,” he lamented.

While calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to beam his security light on the state, Comrade Miriki said this became imperative as event in the state would also be used to judge his performance.

He noted that the PDP government in the state was using the blast and other security threat to intimidate perceived opponents.

Comrade Miriki described the ACN as the only party that could ameliorate the sufferings of the people in term of the provision of social infrastructure.

In the same vein, the IYC through its spokesperson, Comrade Jeremiah Owoupele Perekeme said the cycle of violence and deaths has shown that more need to be done to realize the complex issues of governance.

The IYC spokesman called on those charged with the management of security to either deliver or quit.
