The 17th edition of the Elizabeth Wuraola Memoral golf tournament is expected to tee off on November 16, 2010 at the golf facility in Ikeja.
The event annually sponsored by Toyota, is one way of immortalizing late Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo. “Our resolve over the years to consistently sponsor the event transcends merely supporting the game of golf in Nigeria but to immortalize our chairman’s late wife, Chief (Mrs) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo whose efforts and meritorious contributions while alive paved the way for the steady growth and overwhelming acceptance of the Toyota brand in Nigeria.
The event is used as a platform to celebrate a delectable woman of virtue whose industry cleared the ground upon which the ever towering Toyota leadership in the challenging auto market in Nigeria is solidly built.
Part of the shining ideals which the departed stood for in her life time was an unparalleled companionship and support for her husband Chief Ade Ojo, the indefatigable Chairman of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited and one who continually mentors the growth of the game of golf in the country.
As a tribute to her memory, Toyota (Nigeria) Limited decided to institute the Most Amiable Woman of the Tournament prize in the tournament.
This year’s tournament will kick off on Tuesday November 16, with Professionals teeing off the event. Women will take to the turf on Wednesday, November 17 while men will display their mastery of the game on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 of November 2010.
The event will climax in a colourful gala night on the evening of the Saturday, November 20, 2010 where deserving winners will be presented with their awards and gifts. Not less than 30 trophies will be presented to winners during the gala night.
