Succour is on the way for commuters plying the ailing Tombia-Etegwe Road, linking the Bayelsa State owned Niger Delta University, Amassoma to Yenagoa, the state capital.

The Tombia-Etegwe Road is a partnership project between the state government and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC.

The road, Vanguard investigation revealed, is also the gateway to the hundreds of oil fields in Gbarain-Ekpetiama Kingdom in the old Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

The road also links one of the biggest gas gathering plants in the Niger Delta. It was started early last year and  not much could be done because of alleged claim that the state government defaulted in fulfilling its side of the agreement.
