The Sokoto State government will soon commence the building of 1,000 housing units to ameliorate the plight of victims of flooding which ravaged some local government areas of the state.
Governor Aliyu Wamakko disclosed this recently, in Sokoto, while receiving delegations from the 23 local governments of the state led by their chairmen and district heads on Sallah homage.
He said that the houses which will be donated to the victims of the disaster would comprise of 2_bedroom and 3_bedroom bungalows. “The first phase of the construction of these houses will commence in Silame, Gada, Goronyo and Wurno local governments,” he promised.
Wamakko affirmed that the gesture was aimed at further providing succour to the victims of the recent flood disaster which affected nine out of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
“We will never falter in providing the social amenities for residents of the state irrespective of religious, political or ethnic affiliations. However, it is only the Almighty God that is capable of replacing what you have lost in the disaster. We should all have absolute faith in God in this direction as ever,” he stated.
