The management of Shoprite supermarket in Nigeria has recently named Mr. Godfrey Andrew Odamah as the branch manager of the retail chain’s outlet in The Palms Shopping Centre, Lekki Lagos. The elevation which takes immediate effect is part of the groups’ ongoing business restructuring and branch expansion.
Mr. Odamah, formerly the sales manager at the same branch, has been under the employ of Shoprite from its inception in Nigeria . He was amongst the first batch of Nigerians that received training in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2005 and rose from being a controller to trainee manager, thereafter became sales designate.
“Godfrey is an absolutely outstanding retail and team leader,” said Anton Wagenaar, General Manager of Shoprite Nigeria . “He will lead Shoprite in strengthening its bonds with customers around value, quality and ease in their shopping experiences.”
Odamah joined Shoprite with little or no retail experience, but had in the past 5years been exposed to the art and science of leading people at different levels in a world class retailing environment.
“I am pleased and excited to be saddled with the responsibility of managing the day to day operations of the store and to create value for our customers,” he said. “Shoprite is committed to the everyday low prices; fresh food, service and reliability that help our shoppers live well.”
Also promoted on the basis of dedication is Miss Elizabeth Michael Jumbo, a 27year old graduate of foreign languages from the University of Uyo .
She rose from being a till packer, cashier and lately a supervisor to now a trainee manager.
Jumbo who holds a post-graduate diploma in International Relations joined Shoprite in February 2008 and had gone through series of in-house training.
