ASABA—State Acting Governor Prince Sam Obi,Monday, denied hatching any plan to dissolve the state executive of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, led by Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, saying that he does not even have the power to do so.
Obi who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Odu in a statement, said “the attention of the Delta State government has been drawn to a media report, purporting that the state Acting Governor, Prince Obi is set to dissolve the state executive of the PDP”.
While describing the report as false, the statement said that “Prince Obi as the Acting Governor does not interfere in the affairs of the party neither does he have the power to constitute, reconstitute or dissolve the state executive of the party.”
The statement further said “the issue of the Delta PDP exco is pending before a competent court of law and should not be a matter for the press until the determination of the case.”
Mr. Odu in a separate statement assured the various contractors handing mega projects in the state that “the state government will continue to fund the projects and fulfil its obligations to contractors, who are committed to the execution of their projects.”
