WARRI – A militant group, “The gods”, led by Mr. Godday Smith, Thursday, disagreed with the Movement for the Emancipation of the NIger-Delta , MEND, and the Niger Delta Liberation Force, NDLF, that last Friday’s bombing of the pipeline that conveys crude oil from Delta State to Kaduna was carried out by local fighers of MEND in the region.
The militant group said the action was independently carried out by the group and not in collaboration with MEND and NDLF, but NDLF spokesman, “Captain” Mark Anthony in an earlier statement stated that a group sympathetic to it carried out the attack.
But the leader of The gods said the Niger Delta Liberation Force , maintained that NDLF leader, ‘General’ John Togo and the factional spokesman of MEND, ‘Captain Mark Anthony were taking credit for onslaught carried out by foot-soldier of “The gods”.
He, however ,said that the JTF and other security agency in the region have failed to secure the waterways in the region and , therefore, the genuine peace ambassadors and those who have worked for peace in the region should be engaged in the maintenance of law and order in the region’s waterways..
‘General’ Smith said he was offering himself to rid the waterways for criminals, saying, “The radicals and hawks along the waterways need to tone down their dubious approach and adopt peace, justice and bridge building methods to garner support for the development of our long despoiled and neglected waterways”.
Nevertheless, he said foreigner should stay away from the waterways at this point in time because the region is not safe.
