ASABA — FOMER military Governor of the defunct Midwest region, Major-General David Ejoor (rtd.), said Wednesday, that he was not part of the newly formed Delta State Peoples Elders Council, DSPEC, reported to have differed fundamentally on principles with some of the positions already taken by the Delta Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders Forum, DELSF, led by Chief Edwin Clark on the affairs of the state.

General Ejoor, who spoke to Vanguard on phone on our report  on the DSPEC meeting at Asaba,  said: “I was not at the meeting and I want you to correct the wrong impression that I am among the elders that have risen against Clark.”

DSPEC had in its statement, said that Ejoor could not personally make it to the meeting, but sent an apology.

DSPEC  had said: “the inaugural meeting was attended by select elders drawn from Delta North Senatorial, Delta Central Senatorial and Delta South Senatorial district.

They are Delta South – former Deputy Premier of Midwest region and First Republic politician, Chief James Otobo, the Iyatsere of Warri, Chief Gabriel Mabiaku and a prominent Ijaw leader and banker, Chief Emmanuel Ebimami; Delta Central -  former military Governor of Midwest region, Major-General David Ejoor (rtd), who sent an apology for not personally making it to the meeting.”

Provisional chairman of DSPEC,  Chief  Otobo, said it was not false that he and other elders of the state had moved against Chief Clark as reported by the media.

He said: “it is true that  Ejoor was not physically present at the meeting of DSPEC, which we stated clearly in our statement. We said he sent an apology. His apology was conveyed to the meeting by Senator Fred Brume, which we accepted. We were further told that if he was unable to make it to the inaugural meeting, he would be at the next meeting.  It was because we were waiting for him that we even started late.”
