The Nigerian Guild of Editors,NGE, biennial Congress to elect its Executive and Standing Committees will now hold Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Airport Hotel in Lagos.
In the statement issued by NGE’s General Secretary, Mr. John Ndukauba, Sunday in Abuja, the shift in the date was occasioned by the scheduling of other events at the Airport Hotel venue of the Congress.
The Congress was originally slated for Saturday December 4, 2010. Mr. Ndukauba said the convenience of the over 200 editors expected from all over the country informed the shift in the date. He explained that it is only editors who have paid all their annual dues that will participate in the congress.
He advised editors wishing to participate to contact NGE Secretariat in Lagos at the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, National Theatre Annex, Iganmu.
The statement added that a biennial congress planning committee, headed by former Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, National President, Mr. Bonny Iwuoha, is working to ensure a successful programme.
During the Congress, 16 officers to run the NGE for the next two years will be elected as well as the induction of 18 editors as members of the Guild.
