The Super Falcons will file out against their German counterparts in an international friendly today in Germany. Coach Eucharia Uche who is leading the girls in today’s encounter has described the game as a big test for them after their triumph at the 2010 Caf African Women’s Championship in South Africa this month.
The African champions are poised to give their hosts a glimpse of what to expect when the 2011 FIFA Women World Cup takes place. Incidentally, the Germans who are the reigning champions will host the event.
Although it is a tune-up game, the African queens will not want to go down easily as the likes of Perpetua Nkwocha, Desire Okparanozie, youthful Esther Sunday, Ebere Orji aamong other stars that shone at the AWC would want to prove that their performance in South Africa was not a fluke.
“Playing against the world champions just after winning the African title is a good test for us. But we will go there and give our best against the world champions,” coach Eucharia Uche said, warning Nigerians not to expect too much from her wards.
“It is a friendly match, so I don’t think we will play under pressure. We will give many players the opportunity to play since it is a friendly match,” she said.
Captain of the team, Precious Dede, also corroborated the words of her coach saying the game will be a massive test for the Super Falcons.
“They (the Germans) are the world champions. Though it is a friendly it will not be an easy game. But as African champions we will do our best in the game,” said Dede.
