Nigeria and Everton striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has declared that scoring his second goal of the season will spur him to more achievement in the Premier League.
Yakubu suffered a poor run of form since April when he scored his first goal of the season. He was to do more damage to his reputation at the 2010 World Cup, when he messed up a begging chance in the game against South Korea. Then he was entered into the history books as the world’s worst attacker.
But last weekend Yakubu proved that he has not lost his goal scoring touch as he netted Everton’s only goal against Stoke City.
“As a striker sometimes you have good chances and you don’t take them but I was there at the right time and took it really good. It is really good to score goals. It had been six or seven games and I hadn’t scored, so to get a goal will give me more confidence and I am going to score goals.”
He added: “I think my fitness is really good, better than last season.
“Hopefully I can score goals and help the team, and the team can achieve something this season.”
