PORT HARCOURT— GOVERNOR Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, has assured that the state government would implement all laws so far passed by the state House of Assembly.
The governor who spoke yesterday on the floor of the House as part of activities marking his three years in office, said his administration would build a power sub-station at Rumuolumeni to serve Mgbuoba, Ozuoba and environs.
Noting that the power situation had improved in the state with the success of the government in the area of power, he said an additional 180 megawatts would be commissioned next year. This, he said, would bring to 520 megawatts available for distribution in the state. He assured that by next year the issue of power distribution would have been resolved.
Continuing, the governor said the state budget would now be accessible on the internet. According to him, gone were the days when state budgets were hidden in drawers. He said since it was a public document, the people should be able to access it any time and match it with government programmes.
The governor said his administration was going to set up a new oil palm estate under a private public partnership arrangement, adding that a banana and fish farm would also be set up at different areas in the state capital.
