AKURE—ONDO State government yesterday condemned the allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state that the government collaborated with kidnappers, describing the allegation as irresponsible and senseless.
The state PDP in the state had allegedthat since the advent of the Labour Party “kidnapping is a crime that had been recurring, saying, “permit us to state that the commission of these kidnapping crimes by hoodlums was alien to our State until Olusegun Mimiko became Governor.
But speaking with Vanguard, the Information Commissioner Ranti Akerele declared that the allegation is “senseless and irresponsible coming from a supposedly big party in the country’s political turf and which had contributed so much rot to the criminality in the polity.
Akerele, said “if anything the blame should go to the PDP. We would all recall that 14 chieftains of the party were abducted at the wake of the 2007 elections by goon who were promised to rig for them but who were shortchanged at the end of the day.”
About three months ago, the PDP chairman in Ondo State, Dr. Tayo Dairo was also abducted by persons suspected to be members of their party. Are they LP men? Even when they were in office, the Chairman of the state oil area agency was kidnapped by militants.”
If they are trying to make politics from something as criminal and reprehensible as kidnapping is been celebrated by a group of people then it is condemnable.”
Akerele advised the party to engage itself in better and worthwhile activities instead of politicizing even crimes that needed to be condemned by all.
