A former member of the House of Representatives, Ned Nwoko, has urged the people of Anioma to demand for quality leadership and effective representation and reject a culture of mediocrity associated with imposition of candidates on the citizenry.
Nwoko, who represented Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency from 1999 to 2003,made this assertion in Asaba last week when he met with youths who were setting up political structures to promote his aspirations for Delta North senatorial seat in the State.
He said the pat 12 years has been a huge loss to the people of Delta North in the upper legislative chambers in Abuja “because the powers that be choose to impose a candidate that would remain subservient to them and represent their interest rather than the interest of their people but in this era when the concept of “one-man- one-vote” has become a catch phrase, the people of Anioma must realise that this concepts means power to the people at all levels of governance in the forth coming elections.
You must reject imposition of candidates who are selected to do the will of their mentors, we have seen the negative effect of allowing a select group of persons to impose their lackeys and cronies on the people, this is not democracy, this is not progressive because such candidates would not have the courage to speak out against oppression and injustice when the time comes”
