ABAKALIKI—A pressure group, Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, has blamed the spate of kidnapping in Abia State on some desperate politicians who want a state of emergency declared in the state.
The group’s stance comes against the backdrop of the kidnap of 15 school children in the state a few days ago.
The IYM in a statement signed by Elliot Uko, said Governor Theodore Orji was obviously the target of the politicians.
According to the group, the activities of the politicians involved in the act is already of public knowledge to the discerning citizens of the state.
The group advised them to be content with their loot of 11 years and allow peace reign in the state.
“Everybody knows that the well-organized and orchestrated terrorism in the state is clearly the handiwork of disgruntled political groups who are bent on destroying Abia State after milking it dry for 11 years.
“By sponsoring organized robbery and weird kidnappings, even of little children, these politicians are hoping to induce a state of emergency in Abia, and then achieve their aim.
“We are, however, pleading with these people, who have convinced themselves that Abia State is their property, to please leave it alone,” it alleged.
