Ilorin—A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, Engr. Sunday Adebayo Babalola, has enjoined the party leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that the party produced  the next governor from Kwara South Senatorial District in the interest of fairness, justice and fair play.

Babalola, in an interview with Vanguard in Ilorin, posited that  since the existence of the state, Kwara South had not had its fair share of the exalted  office of the governor unlike the other two senatorial districts, Kwara South and Kwara Central.

He said: “The alignment by some governorship aspirants from our zone with President Goodluck Jonathan who from all indications does not respect zoning is not in order it smacks of mischief.

Remember the President said that zoning was always done after the winning of election and not before’’.

According to him, Chief Cornelius Adebayo only occupied the office of the governor for three months, unlike kwara north which had occupied it for about three years, during the era of Alh Shaaba Lafiagi and the current occupant, kwara central which will be occupying it for twelve years uninterruptedly by 2011.

The party chieftain also chided, his colleagues, other governorship aspirants of the party from kwara south for their romance with President Goodluck Jonathan in their desperate attempt to achieve their ambition.

His words,
Engineer Babalola who commended leadership style of Governor  Olusola Saraki over the years. He expressed the belief  that Governor Saraki being  the leader of the party in the state and a presidential aspirant will ensure a level playing ground to ensure that a credible and acceptable aspirant emerged from kwara south to succeed
