How do you stop a fifteen year old girl from marrying a man thrice her age
With Florence Amagiya
Mary was obviously going to be the star in her family, even when she was just a baby; her parents knew that she was special. Her growth was no different; she was so fast that at age thirteen she was all grown up with all the features. She was beautiful, an exact opposite of her parents plainness with intelligence beyond her age. Truly she was meant to make her family proud.
Twelve years after Mary’s birth, her parents had other children. But the hand of clock was to be later turned against little Mary when her parents was killed in an auto-crash. Mary had to survive together with her siblings but her survival depends on the willing support of her 50 year old uncle Okafor, her father’s friend. Unfortunately for her, Okafor has a hidden motive, his eyes are fixed on Mary, and she must marry him if they must enjoy support and care from him. Confused and dumbfound, Mary has to make a choice. If she was your daughter or kid- sister, what action would you take?
Shame on him – Koffi, Comedian
A fifteen year old is still been catered for by her parents, she is still a child. She is a juvenile and of course logically speaking, why would a fifty years old man bed a fifteen year old girl?
For health reasons, there is no justification to what she will eventually go through if she gets pregnant. She might have a tear when she is about to put to bed, it will result to (V.V.F) Vesico- virginal fistula. It is not healthy for her to go through that in the first place, she is too young! She ought to be in secondary school or rounding up her secondary education, learning how to be a girl and not how to be a wife to a man more three times her age and a mother to whose children when she is a child herself.
Socially speaking, it is a shame to everyone who sees her with her grandfather’s mate and keeps quiet. Imagine the old man going out on a function with this supposedly fifteen year old wife on his side. How edifying will it be in a social gathering? For God’s sake, her mates are still in secondary school, learning to wear pants.
Jail the man – Uche Jombo, Actress
It is a crime. In fact, it is also child abuse. The girl in question is only a child not even 18 years! She doesn’t know what she is doing or where she is stepping into. The Adult on the other hand is a criminal and so should be dealt with.
He won’t dare it! – Joke Muyiwa, Actress
If I have a fifteen year old daughter who claims she is in love and wants to marry a 50 years old man. I will use all I have to stop her from making that stupid mistake. What is wrong with her? Obviously, she is not well taken care of, because she ought to be in school instead. A mistake made at youth never leaves you even in old age.
Deal with the old man! – Doris Simeon, Actress
It is more like child abuse to me. The girl is too young, she doesn’t know what she is doing or about to do. So, I won’t bother talking to the girl. She could be my sister or even my daughter; I will face the man in question to decease from that line of action.
Get him arrested – Onyebuchi Ojieh, Comedian
My younger sister who is only fifteen years old comes home to tell me that she is getting married to a fifty years old man. I will want to know the why. If he is rich, then I will know that she is only following wealth and the good things of life. Certainly, I will talk her out of It of course, but if he is poor, I will get him arrested because he is truly mad.
