ABUJA— Determined to fast-track the infrastructural transformation of the Niger Delta, the Federal Government yesterday reiterated its commitment to collaborate with various international development partners to develop a framework that would facilitate a roadmap for coordinated and effective development of the region.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who announced this measure while declaring open a two-day stakeholders’ forum on the functional and capacity needs of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, said there was an urgent need for an effective collaboration to enable the ministry deliver its mandate to the people.
Noting that the transformation of the region could not be single-handedly achieved by the government or any individual institution or agency, the minister assured that the government was ready to foster more opportunities to address critical developments in the region.
