Christian clerics storm Edo to pray against crimes

By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—  President of the Christians Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor will  next week, lead over 1000 Christian clerics to the ancient city of Benin, Edo State, to pray against the rising spate of kidnapping, armed robbery, assassinations and other violent crimes.

The special prayer session will be part of the one week Bible Alive Believers International Convention, BABIC, organised by the Gospel Light International Ministries, New Covenant Gospel Church, which comes up on October 21-31, 2010.

Violent crimes, especially kidnapping recently assumed a frightening dimension in Edo State.  Christian clerics  and other notable people, who are targets of the criminals now sleep with one eye open even as they have beefed up security around themselves.

According to the General Superintendent of the New Covenant Gospel Church, Dr. Felix Omobude, the church’s annual convention with the theme “Stir up the Gift” will have Christian delegates from over 40 countries, including Africa, Europe and America.

Rev. Omobude, disclosed that notable men of God, including Dr, Richard Ford, Pastor Tom King, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Bishop Simeon Okah and other great men of God will be ministering alongside with Pastor  Oritsejafor,  during the seven days event, starting from  October 25, 2010.

“It is our expectation that Nigerians in particular and Nigeria as a country will witness the mighty visitation of God during and after the convention as issues bothering on the welfare and safety of the nation as well as the success of the 2011 general elections will be handled in prayers”, Rev Dr. Felix Omobude stated.

Saying that annual Church Convention was a period set aside to seek God through righteous living, he expressed the hope that during the programme, many people that have not know Christ will become more committed and dedicated to the work of God.

“There shall be a harvest of miracles, signs and wonders. We have God’s assurance that the lame will walk, the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the captives set free. It shall be healing galore. “he stated.
