WARRI — THE Burutu Youth Political Forum, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to take immediate steps to remove the Delta State INEC Director of Operations, Mr. Chris Nwosu, for allegedly aiding and abetting the massive rigging of the 2007 elections in Burutu Local Government Area of the state.
They alleged that Mr. Chris Nwosu, then the Electoral Officer in the council, abdicated his responsibilities by diverting all electoral materials meant for Burutu council to Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Forum said the elevation of Nwosu to a Director of Operations in Delta State, was certain to discredit the whole election at a time when the in-thing was “credible election come 2011” by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Apart from registering their opposition to the elevation of Nwosu, they described his presence in the state as a threat to the attainment of credible elections in 2011 and therefore called on Prof. Jega to investigate the allegation as contested in the election tribunal and re-deploy him immediately.
