No she’s ‘not a piece of meat’ she said and yes she wore a different outfit on the red carpet before the show proper but what more ingenious way is there to dominate the tabloids and cyber space even a week after a deed is done. Lady Gaga is an attention lover and she so knows how to get it. The MTV Video Music Award 2010 has come and gone and rather than talking about the glitz and glamour that characterised the event, everyone seems to be talking about the electric music sensation- Lady Gaga.
Apart from being the highest winner for the night sweeping a total of eight awards, her sensitive outfit, the meat dress is currently more discussed than her feat. Gaga wore a dress, hat and sandals made exclusively from raw meat and she has no apologies (after all others wear leather which is from hides and skins and so wearing it raw is just a matter of choice).
She’s notorious for her weird costumes and in fact once wore a meat bikini for a photo shoot for a Japanese magazine sometime ago. The VMA outfit we hear will decompose in six weeks from the day it was made. ‘Meat Dress’ trended worldwide on Twitter for five days and the comments were a mixture of good and bad. While many
vegetarians and some non-vegetarians felt offended by Gaga’s ‘insensitivity’ some others were purely disgusted for no reason. a fan tweeted, “Lady Gaga’s meat dress looked disgusting. She’s really going way too far in being unique”.
Before now we’ve always known of perishable food items like vegetables and the likes, now we have perishable outfits. And this got me thinking about glamour displayed in Nigerian showbiz. Is there any celebrity you can think of that will be so adventurous or gagacious? I’m trying to answer the question myself. so join the think tank
committee. Enjoy your weekend!
