ABUJA — The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has called for the resignation of Minister of Education, Professor Ruqqayatu Rufa’i, over recent dismal performance and mass failure recorded by candidates who sat for the just concluded National Examination Council, NECO, exams.
The student body blamed the mass failure on what it described as the “progressive deterioration” of the education sector, manifest sloppiness and lackadaisical posture of the Federal Ministry of Education.
NANS expressed worry that this was the third consecutive result in succession where massive failure had been recorded. It said “this is totally unacceptable and indeed condemnable.”
NANS President, Comrade Ini Ememobong, recalled that “when WAEC released its result, we wrote the minister and stressed that there is an urgent need for the Ministry to summon an emergency meeting of the National Council on Education.
