Men of the Nigerian Police from Ojo Division backed by military personnel, last week nabbed over 40 persons suspected to be involved in the attacks on Okada riders along the LASU- Iba Expressway.
The raid, Vanguard gathered, was as a result of the outcry against the activities of the attackers along the route which had led to death of several Lagosians in recent time.
Confirming the arrests Wednesday, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, said the security agencies raided the area at about 10.30 p.m of the fateful day.
Mba, who described the raid as successful, further noted that apart from the arrest of the suspects, large quantity of Indian hemp and other items were recovered from the hideout of the suspects.
Mba said that the suspects had been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for further investigation.
Vanguard learnt that Ojo Divisional Police Officer, Isaac Agbogbo, on the orders of the State Police Commissioner, initiated the raid following a series of complaints from the citizenry.
Vanguard gathered that the team searched the nearby bushes where about 15 persons were arrested, who led them to apprehend the others.
