PORT HARCOURT — A former Chairman of Ekeremo Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, Hinks Dumbo, has vowed to wrestle power from Governor Timipre Sylva in the next governorship election in the state.
The former Council boss, who unfolded his programme in Port Harcourt, assured that when he comes in as Governor, he would take practical steps to address the challenges of poverty in the state.
Noting that he was going to contest on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he dismissed insinuations in several quarters that he was being sponsored by some political forces in the state. He added that among other things, he would aim at reviving the agricultural sector and attract local and foreign investors to the state.
“I humbly declare my intention to run for the office of Governor of Bayelsa State in the forthcoming elections. In doing this, I am propelled by the suffering of the entire people of Bayelsa State, who have not felt the positive impact of government and prudent management of our resources.
“In view of the above, and in response to various calls from numerous groups and compatriots, who believe in my ability and competence in management and administration, I have decided to unequivocally contest the race under the platform of the PDP”, he said.
