The Delta-born athlete who overcame the tumbling turmoil in the camp of the Nigerian athletes at Games was in a class of his own as he easily coasted to the finish line, leaving his fellow competitors reeling with amazement. He said afterwards, that the run was a big boost to his quest to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games in India.“I’m excited running that fast.

This is because we the sprinters were challenged by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria president to run 10.1 seconds or forget the Commonwealth Games next month.“I worked hard for it and certainly it is a big boost for me ahead of the Commonwealth Games,” said the athlete yesterday.

Egwero said that he is bent on making amends to his bad showing at the African championships in Nairobi, Kenya where he came forth with 10. 27 seconds.

“Nairobi wasn’t a good experience for me. I had a bad start and you that it is always difficult to make amends when you are running the 100m.”
