Egwero ‘gone in 10.10 seconds’ at ECOWAS Games
By Ben Efe
Nigeria’s up and coming sprinter, Ogho-Oghene Egwero yesterday blew away the field at the ECOWAS Games holding in Abuja, when he ran 10.10 seconds to win the men 100m gold.
This is because we the sprinters were challenged by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria president to run 10.1 seconds or forget the Commonwealth Games next month.“I worked hard for it and certainly it is a big boost for me ahead of the Commonwealth Games,” said the athlete yesterday.
Egwero said that he is bent on making amends to his bad showing at the African championships in Nairobi, Kenya where he came forth with 10. 27 seconds.
“Nairobi wasn’t a good experience for me. I had a bad start and you that it is always difficult to make amends when you are running the 100m.”
