Ghana, the next host of the second ECOWAS Games is considering including football among the events that would feature at the games in 2012.
The Ghanaian deputy minister of sports, Nii Nortey Dua said last night after receiving the ECOWAS flag as a symbol of the next host, said “We wish to include football among the events that would feature at the next games.
“I cannot solely announce which sports would feature at the next games; I will need to get back to consult with my superior as well as the sports council before such decision is taken on number of sports and which sport that would feature.“We have seen Nigeria’s efforts, and we need to improve on that”, Nii Nortey Dua, whose country finished in the third position after clinching three gold, one silver and six bronze medals, said.
Hosts Nigeria topped the over all medals table with 26 gold, 14 silver and one bronze while Senegal settled in the second position with five gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
Sierra Leone, among the 10 countries that participated in the games failed to win any medal, and Guinea was ninth with just a silver medal.
