CWG supports education through CSR

Leading Information and Communications Technology Company, Computer Warehouse Group recently played hosts to graduating Computer Science Students from the University of Ibadan. The students were on a tour of the Company’s infrastructure as a preparatory step before they get absorbed into the corporate industry.

According to the executives of the association led by their President, Adeshina Alani, “CWG was approached because of its strength within the ICT industry in Nigeria and as future experts, they believed this exposure to the facilities and expertise of CWG, would afford them the opportunity of having some form of hands on experience before getting into the industry”.

In welcoming the Students to CWG’s corporate head office, Simon Agi, The Group’s General Manager, Operations gave a brief summary of the position of CWG in the corporate market, pointing out that CWG plays a key role in hardware & infrastructure, communications and software aspects of most businesses across the banking, telcos and manufacturing industries and have become a leader in the corporate market.

He also pointed that the company’s offices spans across the African continent with physical presence in Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda.   Mr. Agi relayed to the students, CWG’s core policy on promoting education and this has become an important element of the Company’s Corporate social responsibility.

From CWG’s corporate head office, the students made their way to the hardware and infrastructure arm of the Company, where Dayo Abegunde, AGM CWL Systems was on hand to receive them. He alongside his team of Business Managers exposed the students to the solutions and infrastructure driven by CWL Systems . In reviewing the processes of CWL Mr. Abegunde pointed out the important relationship between hardware and Software, stating that hardware cannot be sold unless a Software is purchased.

From the 24 hour service desk in CWL Systems to the Infrastructure unit, the students who were more than 40 in number were imbued on how the hardware business works and encouraged on the tools/skills to be acquired to become exceptional in that field.

At DCC Networks, CWG’s communications arm, the Students had much more to see and listen to. Oladipo Raji, General Manager for DCC networks took the students round the Hub, VSAT equipment and networking Unit of the company. He later communicated CWG’s strength as a foremost Systems Integration Company in West Africa, providing Core Banking Application for all eleven (11) out of the 24 banks.

DCC Networks also provides VSAT and Networking management solutions to almost all the banks in the country. In addition to its VSAT business, DCC is laying fibre Optic cables across the Country. Mr. Raji later presented a cash donation to the association on behalf of CWG as the company’s support towards the growth of education and Computer science studies within the institution.

Mr Alani, the president of the association received the donation on behalf of the students. He expressed deep thanks to CWG for this gesture and expressed joy over the experience they had just had walking through the facilities of CWG. He could not help but state categorically CWG’s foremost position in Information Communications Technology.
