AWKA—THE All Progressives Grand Alliance , APGA, in Anambra State has reacted on the alleged attack on the national leader of the party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, by the expelled founding chairman of the party, Chief Chekwas Okorie, saying Okorie was merely exposing his ignorance.
Okorie was quoted as saying that Ojukwu was not the national leader of APGA.
In a press statement issued yesterday in Awka by the party leadership and endorsed by Anambra State secretary of APGA, Chief C.J Okorie-Akirika, the party described Okorie’s outburst as infantile and unnecessary inflammatory statement.
The statement read: “Ojukwu’s position in APGA is unassailable and it appears that Chekwas is suffering from periodic illusion and delusion anytime election comes around
“All APGA members nation wide know that Ojukwu is the national leader of APGA in spirit, soul and the moving force behind the APGA and this was acknowledged by Chekwas when the issue of Governor Peter Obi’s ticket was resolved by INEC . So Chekwas should watch his inflammatory and unguarded utterances because the issue concerning APGA and Ojukwu are so tracedental that unscrupulous elements should trifle with them.
“Ojukwu, as a free citizen of Nigeria, is entitled to his personal opinion and political influences and that should not warrant Chekwas calling him names or denigrating his personality.”
